Vanilla, incense, and tobacco mingle with murky water. The tobacco is almost sweet, with smokiness from the incense, and an aquatic undercurrent.
Fractionated coconut oil, vanilla bourbon, neroli, fragrance

Seriously gorgeous. The notes are used in a really interesting way – yes, there’s vanilla, but it doesn’t smell food-y at all (which ties to the character – Quintana is NOT edible). First impression is tempered, green sweetness, before the smokiness of both the tobacco and incense. The aquatic element grounds the scent perfectly – it reminds me of B Balenciaga, which calls itself green and woody but honestly smells like sharp, damp earth (in a good way). In this fragrance, that element of sharpness is less obvious, but it makes the perfume unlike any other I’ve worn.
Fangirl time: It’s also a pitch-perfect character portrait of Quintana, capturing her otherworldliness, her wildness, and the darkness of her life – but the lasting impression of the fragrance of smoky/creamy sweetness also reflects how her world opens up over the course of the Lumatere books.

this smells like a mysterious seaside crystal shop. seriously incredible, breathtaking. as someone who rarely finds solace in green scents (though this is just as spicy and sweet as it is green), i’m in love.
